The Habs went on the power play 2:50 into the middle frame and cashed in when Tomas Tatar one-timed the rebound of a Jeff Petry point shot past Devan Dubnyk. The tally was Tatar’s third of the season.

Just 16 seconds later, Phillip Danault added a goal of his own to give the Habs the lead — and it was something of a strange one.
Danault had his attempted cross-ice pass to Artturi Lehkonen blocked by Ryan Hartman, but Danault quickly collected the loose puck and carried it behind the net before banking the puck in off of Dubnyk’s skate for his third of the season.
The Canadiens were set to take a one-goal lead to the locker room, but Marcus Foligno tied the game with 13 seconds remaining in the second to make it 2-2 after 40.
