The big decision is whether to play Mahomes and/or Jackson. We’ve decided to go with both, which requires some value picking at the bottom of our lineup. We’re also hoping choosing Clyde Edwards-Helaire as our captain is a bit different than what some will do. The big fade choice we’ve made is to not use Tyreek Hill or Travis Kelce against the strong Baltimore defense.

DraftKings Showdown Picks: Ravens vs. Chiefs

Captain (1.5x price, 1.5x points): RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Chiefs ($11,700)

The Ravens haven’t given up much on the ground this year, but that’s not because they have a great run defense. Baltimore has allowed 4.9 yards per carry, but teams have been forced to abandon the run to try and come back against a strong Ravens offense. That shouldn’t be as much of an issue for Kansas City, and Edwards-Helaire can make a difference as a receiver, too. We can feel safe about his touches, and when you combine that with his explosiveness, CEH is a solid captain choice.

MORE MNF: FD Single-game lineup

FLEX: QB Lamar Jackson, Ravens ($13,000)

Unlike most Showdown contests that feature Jackson, his ownership might not approach 100 percent in this one. But we have to play him – he’s too dynamic an option to fade, and when you consider that he’s Baltimore’s best rusher and that his receiving options are less than predictable, the best way to get a big slice of the Baltimore pie is to use Jackson himself.

FLEX: QB Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs ($12,000)

Mahomes and the Chiefs struggled at times against the Chargers last week, and Baltimore’s defense is better than L.A.’s. But he’s still Mahomes, and by using him we get a piece of the production that goes toward Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce and Mecole Hardman, rather than having to guess which of those three has the big day.

FLEX: WR Marquise Brown, Ravens ($8,400)

You could also use Tyreek Hill here, but since we’re betting on KC’s rushing attack with CEH, we’ll use Brown against the inferior defense. It’s always nice to have a deep-ball threat in a Showdown lineup, and Brown is certainly that.

FLEX: WR Demarcus Robinson, Chiefs ($3,000)

Robinson might remain the No. 3 WR in this offense even if Sammy Watkins (concussion) is out, but that means Mahomes looks deep for him once or twice a game while finding him on shorter routes a few times each game, too. At this price, it’s not a bad play to hope Robinson and Mahomes link up deep once.

FLEX: TE Nick Boyle, Ravens ($800)

Boyle is on the field a ton for the Ravens, more than Mark Andrews. Yes, most of that is to run block, but Jackson looks his way a few times each week in the passing game, including occasional red-zone looks. We’ll take the playing time here at this supremely cheap price that allows us to use both quarterbacks.
