According to The Associated Press, Riddle and her daughter had just finished a meeting with the Vice Principal of Dupont Middle School prior to the incident. However, instead of leaving campus directly, the two went out of their way to pass through the cafeteria, which is where the fight occurred.

Witnesses report that it was Riddle’s daughter who first attacked the victim, pushing her to the ground and hitting her. While the victim was still on the ground, her mother joined in and also began punching her. According to a witness, Edith Riddle was wearing a boxing glove on her left hand at the time of the attack.

After the fact, Riddle told officers that she couldn’t remove the boxing glove because it was glued to her wrist. She is said to have been wearing the glove since arriving at the school that day.

According to reporting done by First Coast News, Riddle and the victim are not related to each other.

After the attack, the victim, who suffered abrasions on her knees and forearms, was taken to a hospital for an evaluation. The victim’s parents also told police that they hope to pursue criminal charges against Riddle.

Riddle’s motive for attacking the student is currently unclear, and it is unknown why the boxing glove may have been glued to her wrist in the first place. Riddle has been charged with one count of child abuse with personal/special weapons.

This is not the first time a glue-related incident has made its way into the headlines this year. In February, Tessica Brown garnered national attention after accidentally applying Gorilla Glue adhesive in her hair instead of hairspray. Brown sought medical attention after her TikTok documenting the incident went viral, and the issue was eventually resolved with the help of a plastic surgeon.

Soon after, in an attempt to discredit Brown’s ordeal, a man used Gorilla Glue to attach a paper cup to his face, assuming he would be able to remove it himself. He required a graft off of his lip as a result.
