Though the report does not name the other team involved, it does mention the Braves, with whom McCann spent nine seasons before joining the Yankees, as a possible suitor. A reunion between Atlanta and McCann reportedly was discussed last summer.
The News also speculated the Astros could be a fit; McCann’s left-handed power bat would help balance Houston’s heavily right-handed lineup.

The Daily News reported Yankees general manager and senior VP Brian Cashman has spoken with McCann’s agent, B.B. Abbott, about the possibility of a trade this winter. McCann has a full no-trade clause in his contract, so he would have to sign off on any move away from New York.
“(Abbott) just said, ‘Keep me posted; why don’t you guys go through the process and if you have something you need to talk to us about, give us a call,’” Cashman said. “I don’t have any guidance. He hasn’t told me no on anything. I do have a personal belief of what’s more workable than others.”

McCann, 32, played in 130 games last season with a .242/.335/.413 slash line, 20 home runs and 58 RBIs. He is set to make $34 million over the next two seasons ($17 million per year). The pact also includes a $15 million option for 2019.
The Yankees can move on from him now that AL Rookie of the Year candidate Gary Sanchez has established himself as a potential All-Star catcher.
