Hamels, 30, is under contract to the Phillies through the 2018 season with a club option for 2019. He is owed a total of $90 million for the next four seasons.

“One major league source said if the Phillies get a taker on the full contract and they get three top prospects, he’s gone, and Hamels, according to another major league source, wouldn’t mind,” Carfado reports. But so far, the Phillies “have been discouraged by what they’re hearing from other teams.”

The Red Sox, who could be facing life without Jon Lester after this season, have been keeping tabs on Hamels. With several contenders seeking pitching, interest in Hamels could be high, particularly for teams that don’t land David Price.

Hamels is 4-5 .with a 2.83 ERA in 17 starts this year.
