According to the San Francisco Chronicle’s Susan Sluser, Oakland is interested in acquiring second base prospect Joe Wendle from the Indians for Moss.

Wendle, 24, spent most of last season with Double-A Akron, where he batted .253/.311/.414 with eight home runs. Slusser reported that he missed time with a broken bone in his wrist.

Moss, 31, was slowed by a hip injury last season but remains a left-handed power threat who could take over at first base or right field in Cleveland. He has hit 76 home runs in three seasons with Oakland, including 25 in 2014. He homered twice in Oakland’s AL Wild Card Game loss to the Royals.

Paul Hoynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer tweeted that a resolution (trade or no trade) will be reached Friday.

Oakland has added veterans Billy Butler, Brett Lawrie and Ike Davis this fall, as well as youngsters such as Sean Nolin, Kendall Graveman and Franklin Barreto.
