As of Sunday morning, though, the game is a pick ‘em at the Westgate SuperBook, where both teams are offered at -105 odds.

Current MLB lines: Cardinals-Cubs | Monday’s card

The Cardinals are looking for their fifth straight postseason appearance with their roster from last season pretty much intact.   At the Westgate, they are 10-to-1 to win the World Series, the 6-to-5 favorite to claim the NL Central, and their season win total is set at 87.5.

The Cubs always attract plenty of futures action in Las Vegas, but with a productive offseason, which included the hiring of manager Joe Maddon, fans of the lovable losers are actually betting their team with some confidence.  Chicago is 16-to-1 to win their first World Series since 1908 and 3-to-1 to win the division, with a win total of 82.5.

The Linemakers’ lean: While optimism abounds in Chicago, there may be some issues with Lester as the season begins. He is dealing with a tired arm and could be limited to a pitch count tonight.

The Cardinals, meanwhile, went 4-1 against the Cubs behind Wainwright last season.  Wainwright went 3-1 in those games, with one no decision, including getting the win in the last two meetings at Wrigley Field.  In fact, he blanked the Cubs in those two outings.

At -110 odds or better, the Cards offer some value tonight.
