Shortly after the end of the World Series, we ranked the top 101 free agents. At the time, there was much to be worked out with the agreement between MLB and Nippon Professional Baseball in Japan, so we didn’t include Shohei Ohtani in our rankings. As you know, that issue was settled and Ohtani will be playing baseball in the USA for the 2018 season (UPDATE: He chose the Angels!). He shoots to the top of the list, obviously.

We’ll update this list regularly throughout the offseason as players sign, so bookmark it and check back as event warrant. (NOTE: Ages are as of Opening Day  2018.)

♦ After three years pitching in Japan, right-hander Miles Mikolas is returning to the majors. He signed a two-year, $15.5 million deal with the Cardinals.

♦ Twenty-six players were non-tendered on Dec. 3, which means they joined the free-agent market. The most notable players: first baseman Matt Adams (signed with Nationals), reliever Hector Rondon (signed with Astros), starting pitcher Mike Fiers (signed with Tigers), reliever Jared Hughes (signed with Reds), starter Drew Smyly (signed with Cubs) and infielder Ryan Goins.
