Why are MLB games on Apple TV+?

Prior to the start of the 2022 season, Apple and MLB announced a partnership for “Friday Night Baseball,” airing 24 games on the streaming services with doubleheaders every Friday night for the first 12 weeks of the season.

The games exclusively air on Apple TV+ — not any other national network or any team’s regional television partner.

The good news about this is that, for a limited time, “Friday Night Baseball” airs for free over the streaming service, meaning no money out of your pocket to catch these games. Just the added step of having to find out which device to use to stream the games.

What is Apple TV+?

Apple TV+ is yet another streaming service that has surfaced in recent years, this time created and curated by tech giant Apple.

Typically at $4.99 a month, the “Friday Night Baseball” games come for free for a limited time. It’s unknown when the switch will be flipped to a paid service in order to watch the games.

The service is home to hit show “Ted Lasso,” “Foundation,” “Finch” and now, “Friday Night Baseball.”
