Musa S Form And Experience Could Make Him Nigeria S Ace In Russia

Just this weekend, he hit a brace for CSKA Moscow in a 6-0 demolition of Arsenal Tula, bringing his tally to five in his last five league games. In that span, he has also assisted twice. It would appear he is peaking at just the right time, with the World Cup just a month away. What has changed then? Musharraf Bets On America

On Sunday, Musharraf purged top military brass of hardliners: Islamist-leaning generals were either kicked upstairs or forced out. The president also appointed Gen. Eshanul Haq the new head of the country’s intelligence services, InterService Intelligence (ISI), replacing Lt. General Mahmoud Ahmed, who resigned. ISI had been the architect of Pakistan’s intervention in Afghanistan, the organization that groomed the Taliban and helped the regime win-and keep-power. Just last month, the hapless Mahmoud had gone to Washington to persuade the Bush administration to engage with the Taliban....

My Life As A Guinea Pig

As a nonsmoking, athletic and, until then, almost impossibly healthy 35-year-old, I couldn’t believe I had cancer. Sometimes I still can’t. It’s the kind of thing that happens only to other people. But believe it or not, I’m still smiling, still working, still enjoying life. I am a cancer survivor–largely thanks to a clinical trial. My oncologist insisted my only option was a chemotherapy regimen called CHOP, which stands for something I don’t care to recall....

My Turn How To Keep Your Shirt

Once back in my hometown, Chandigarh, I borrowed about $300 from my father, managed to get the shirts made and headed to the airline office. That’s when I first encountered the “license raj,” or infamous Indian bureaucracy. I had no idea of all the permits one needed to do business, but I got the order shipped. The shirts sold like hot cakes in London, where everything Indian was in vogue....

My Turn Looking For Answers To My Nephew S Death

“Adam is dead.” My brother-in-law’s voice was shaking. “He bought a gun. He shot himself.” I fumbled for words, then handed the phone to my wife so she could talk to her brother herself. I stared at a bedroom wall and realized I would have to call my own son and daughter and tell them that their young cousin had died of suicide. The last time I saw Adam had been on Thanksgiving a few weeks earlier....

My Turn Our Gym S Aging Band Of Brothers

But working out on a dozen machines, water-walking and swimming can feel pointless, like Sisyphus pushing the same stone up a mountain again and again. More than 60 years ago, my physical work on a farm accomplished something. Back then, while sweating and grunting, I dreamed of growing a chest and arms that would attract giggling girls like bees to honey. Alas, those days are long gone and reality has stubbornly settled in....

My Turn Sacrifices For Love

When I first met my boyfriend, Matt, he nonchalantly told me, “I enjoy paddling.” It was summer then and the region was caught in a drought, and I got used to our favorite weekend activity of heading to the woods for hiking and biking. Then one day it began to rain. And rain. Oddly, Matt was excited. “What’s wrong with you?” I asked him after the third consecutive day of rainfall....

Romney claimed Massachusetts gained jobs “every single month” he was governor after hitting a low point. In fact the job gains seesawed, with seven of 36 months producing job losses. Huckabee escalated his misleading claims about cutting taxes, saying he cut taxes for the first time in the history of the state of Arkansas, which is untrue. Others put through tax cuts before he did. Overall, Huckabee raised taxes....

Mysterious 250 Light Year Wide Superbubble Ripping Apart Nearby Nebula

The 250 light-years wide and 325 light-years long “superbubble” is a striking feature in the nebula named N44, a dark starry gap against glowing hydrogen gas clouds, dark dust lanes and clusters of stars of varying ages. While NASA says that the presence of the N44 superbubble, or NGC1929 as it’s officially known, is something of a mystery, scientists have a few ideas about what may have created it....

Mike Lindell Hopeful That Baseless Speculation Trump Can Be Reinstated In August Is Correct

Lindell, a staunch supporter of Trump, has been a key promoter of the former president’s baseless conspiracy theories about the 2020 election. The conservative businessman suggested to The Daily Beast in an interview on Wednesday that he “probably” inspired Trump to tout an August deadline for him to return to the White House, despite there being no realistic possibility of this happening. “If Trump is saying August, that is probably because he heard me say it publicly,” Lindell told The Daily Beast...

Mike Pence Says He Wasn T Sure If Pelosi Was Ripping Up Trump S Speech Or The Constitution

Pence said he did not see Pelosi tear the speech in half, but he heard about it shortly after. He called it a “new low.” Pence also said that by ripping the speech, the house speaker tried to make the State of the Union about her, rather than America. “The contrast here was a president who spent an hour and making the speech about America, and Nancy Pelosi, in the final moments, tried to make it about her,” he said....
