The University of Chicago Institute of Politics recently released a survey which found over half of its respondents agreeing that the government is “corrupt and rigged against me.” Conducted by a Democratic and Republican pollster, the survey is another sign of Americans’ growing distrust in established institutions. The survey of 1,000 registered voters between May 19-23 found that right-leaning respondents were more likely to agree the government is corrupt and rigged....

An Economist/YouGov poll published on Wednesday evening shows more than two-thirds of the Republicans surveyed blame anti-fascist activists—colloquially known as antifa—for the violence, which was actually perpetrated by Donald Trump supporters and conspiracy theorists seeking to overturn the result of November’s presidential election. The surveys were conducted using a nationally representative sample of 1,500 American adults interviewed online between January 10 and 12, just days after a mob breached the Capitol building....

Andrea L. Kerins, 33, was arrested after an officer from the Gulfport Police Department noticed a minibus in a beach parking lot at around 4:42 a.m. on Saturday, December 14. While checking the vehicle, the officer found three children aged 3, 6, and 9 years old inside. The children told the officer that Kerins had left them there at around 9:00 p.m. the previous night and went out on a boat....

Garlyn Grace was arrested in Georgetown after her boyfriend called 911 when her 6-year-old daughter was unresponsive. Grace was charged with first-degree assault of a child and first-degree criminal mistreatment for alleged abuse. She is being held on a $500,000 bond, according to court documents. On March 1, the Seattle Fire Department arrived on the scene and found that the girl had a weak pulse but was still breathing. Once the girl became responsive, she told authorities she was hungry and that “Mommy gives me whoopings” and “Mommy gives me owies,” according to the documents....

The hiker, an adult male, and his 13-month-old Border Collie dog were walking on the Kenai River Trail in Cooper Landing on Sunday. The two then encountered a female brown bear and two cubs, at which point the hiker’s dog gave chase, according to an Alaska Department of Public Safety (DPS) statement. This caused the bear to charge at the hiker and bite him on the arm. The hiker then got into the Kenai River, where the bear followed him and attacked once again, biting him on the shoulder before leaving....

A video posted in January by TikTok user @people_like_us_ has been viewed over 580,000 times and features a woman described as a mother-in-law feeding a “drunk groom” at a table at a reception. It is never specified who recorded the 22-second video or where it was recorded. Neither the woman nor the groom, who looks visibly intoxicated, speaks during the duration of the video—much of which includes the groom trying to chew some kind of food that never makes it inside his mouth until he receives assistance from his new mother-in-law....

Heather Garcia, 29, had been out celebrating her birthday with friends in California on Saturday when she died, according to a GoFundMe page for her family. California Highway Patrol officers raced to northbound 101 Freeway and Los Angeles Street at about 3 a.m. after they were alerted to a crash, ABC affiliate KABC reported. Family members who spoke to the network on Sunday said Garcia had been dancing on the party bus when she tripped and fell out of the vehicle’s door and onto the freeway....

The nail-biting footage was recorded by Leland Nisky during a day off work as he made his way up The Ribbon, in Ouray, while he was unroped and alone on February 8, according to Climbing magazine.
