U.S. regulators recently saved hundreds of thousands of the J&J vaccines from being discarded by issuing a second extension of their expiration date, the Associated Press reported. The Food and Drug Administration affirmed in a letter sent to the manufacturer that the doses could stay safe to administer for at least six months if they’re stored properly. Several states are taking similar measures to prevent aging vaccines from being tossed and combat the spread of the highly contagious Delta variant among the unvaccinated, the Associated Press reported....

A team of scientists observed 55 individual tiger sharks for eight years off the coast of Tahiti in the South Pacific, finding that 38 percent of them had been hooked by fishing gear at least once during this period. Worryingly, the team found that some of the these hooks stayed in place for years, and could potentially remain for the entire lifetime of the shark, according to a study published in the journal Fisheries Research....

The man, Mike Rhodes, said he heard two men firing guns near 3 p.m. local time on May 12 outside of his north Minneapolis house. He dropped to the floor and urged his 15-year-old son upstairs to do the same. Rhodes then called 911. The gunmen had left by the time the police arrived. But when the two gunmen returned, walking through his neighborhood near 7 p.m., Rhodes called the police again....
