According to a press release issued by the U.S. Coast Guard 7th District Southeast, officials offloaded approximately 59,700 pounds of cocaine and approximately 1,430 pounds of marijuana at Florida’s Port Everglades on Thursday. The illegal narcotics were worth more than $1.4 billion, said the press release. Coast Guard officials said the drugs were seized across 20 different interdictions in the Eastern Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials and Canadian Defense officials helped with the seizure of the illegal narcotics....

According to a poll conducted by the President of the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany (Claims Conference), both generations display a “disturbing” lack of basic awareness about some key facts surrounding the Holocaust, including not knowing how many people died or the names of Nazi concentration camps. In what is described as “one of the most disturbing revelations” of the survey, 11 percent of U.S. millennials and Generation Z members said they believed that Jews caused the Holocaust....

The virus, which was first detected in Wuhan, a city in China’s Hubei province, has affected more than 723,700 people across nearly 177 countries and regions. Around 82,150 cases have been confirmed in China, although the U.S. now has the largest number of cases in the world. It has more than 143,000 confirmed infections, with 4,685 recoveries. China has seen over 90 percent of its confirmed infected population recover, reporting some 75,900 recoveries as of Monday morning....

New numbers released by the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department on Thursday say that of the 252 arrests, 132 are of individuals from outside the Wisconsin county. Protests against racial injustice and police brutality sparked three nights of civil unrest in Kenosha after Blake, a 29-year-old Black resident, was shot seven times in the back by a white police officer. The demonstrations have been known to draw crowds from out of town, which have included, most notably, 17-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse....

On Wednesday, David Thomas, president of the private historically black men’s college in Atlanta, announced Demarcus Crews, assistant director of student services, was placed on unpaid administrative leave. Thomas said an investigation would be conducted and thanked the student who posted a video about the allegations against Crews. The student, who uses the Twitter handle @GrindAlways_, posted the video on Tuesday night and said that Crews had acted inappropriately toward him beginning in 2018 during the second semester of his freshman year....

As some states begin to reduce stay-at-home measures implemented to stymie the spread of COVID-19, a survey showed 68 percent worry about this being done too soon. While nearly half of those asked, 48 percent, feel the limits in place in their area are at the level they should be. The poll, conducted by The Pew Research Center, surveyed 10,957 adults between April 29 and May 5. The poll also showed a growing disparity between Democrats and Republicans over the removal of measures....
